Twas the night of Christmas. Santa Claus had just finished his annual trip around the world when received a bulletin from Merlin of Arthurian legend- some ham-fisted super villain was plotting to eliminate Christmas! Santa was no stranger to these weird notions of holiday-ruining, but he was confused that this was happening NOW. Usually these sorts of people launched their ridiculous plots the night before. Still, duty called. Taking his sleigh, Santa set out to stop the fiend, one Blain T. Hevertok, and save Christmas…for next year.

Arriving at Hevertok's cabin in the Cayman Islands, Santa learned the details of Blain's scheme from his diary- he had built a time machine, and was going to go back in history to prevent the birth of Jesus Christ! Though slightly impressed with the originality, Santa nonetheless resolved to stop this assault on religion. While Hevertok had already left in his own time machine, the villain had left the blueprints for it lying around. Santa went back to the North Pole and had his elves build their own version. Luckily, the time machine's main fuel source was coal, which Santa typically had plenty of lying around.

Traveling back, Santa confronted Hevertok on the rooftops of Bethlehem. Hevertok was planning to snipe Mary before she entered the city. Santa tried to appeal to common sense, pointing out that by changing history, Blain could possibly erase himself from existence, creating a time paradox. Hevertok, however, would not be stopped- He was tired of being forced to go to church by his family, and figured that eliminating the source of Christianity would put a stop to that. Hevertok prepared to shoot Santa, but the light from the Star of Bethlehem briefly blinded him, allowing Santa to subdue the villain. Though tempted to stay and witness the actual birth of Christ, Santa decided not to risk it, and took Hevertok back to the present.

With Hevertok defeated, Santa returned to his workshop. There, he noticed that the nativity play set he made had changed slightly- on the roof of the stable, it showed to shadowy figures fighting.</p>
Just a little something I whipped up on a whim. Merry Christmas!
